Eligibility

Both emergent, mid-career and established artists working within the creative field, including visual arts, music, video, literature, performance, theatre, cinema, fashion etc., without limitation of age, gender and nationality are encouraged to apply. Application must include: – A cover letter that describes the purpose of your stay and which kind of work you wish to produce in relation to your career and/or personal development (pdf) – Curriculum vitae that includes both professional and few basic biographic infos (pdf) – 10 images of artworks in jpg (if you are a visual artist). One or more links to a webpage or other links that show your professional activity and former work. Make sure to include also your contact infos and specify how many people you are and what is your preferred period of residency (1 or 2 weeks in april – may – june – september – october) All documents should be sent to Giuditta R giudittarustica@yahoo.it Documents can be written in English or Italian

Number of Participants

Maximum number of artists per residency is 4. Please note that for reasons related to space and comfort, if you are selected for a residency at Villa R and would like to bring someone to assist you during the creation process, or simply would like to come with your partner, the other person/s has/have to pay as much as each artist in residency. Therefore people who come along with selected artists, count as artists themselves.

Program Description

Villa R is an exclusive opportunity to develop new ideas in a wide, beautiful and meditative location, far from the distracting vibes of the big city. The residence has wide space for artistic production of any size and media. Villa R offers a great view on the sea, valley and Eolie Islands. Artists have the possibility to work both in a light atelier of 80 square meters, with big windows, or outside with a space of about 2000 square meters, directly in contact with the earth, without limits of dimentions and media of work. There is space to accomodate all artists in comfortable and spacious rooms (single or double). The distance from the villa to a very popular seaside is about 4km .The villa is on accessible distance from touristic destinations such as Milazzo, Taormina, Etna volcano and direct transports to Eolie Islands.
