Eligibility

The residency is open worldwide to: visual artists, curators and writers. Anyone who is looking for a place to move forward with their research and want to be involved and create a small community, even if not part of the above mentioned fields, is welcome to apply to our call. All residents must speak at least basic English and/or Italian.

Number of Participants

We welcome a maximum of 5 artists at time, each artist will be provided with a private bedroom, and a shared, semi-private or private studio, along with 24/7 access to the building. Partners can be hosted upon written request in the application. There is an impact-fee of 300 euro for the 2-weeks residency and 500 euro for the 1-month residency. The SPACE Four of the bedrooms are very large and they function both live-work space. The remaining is a standard size bedroom and has a dedicated separate working space on the top floor. There is a second semi-private studio space that will be awarded to an artist needing more space for his work and a shared co-working space with a coffee table and a couple of armchairs open to all the residents as a communal area for research or writing etc. still on the attic.

Program Description

TIME SCHEDULE Dates for the “Fall Residency 2018”: 2 weeks runs on October 1st-15th or 16th-30th; 1 month runs on October 1st-30th. You can apply for 2-weeks and 1-month residency: 690 Euro per 2-weeks residency; 1.290 Euro per 1-month residency. Benaco Arte is an artist-run residency. We are currently running our residency without grants from the State or Donors yet, therefore we ask who participate a contribution to cover (partially) the expenses of the residency. DESCRIPTION Located in Sirmione by lake Garda (province of Brescia, northern Italy), Benaco Arte is situated in an intimate and local rural Italian community, where the residents are welcome from a small community of locals, becoming temporary part of the hamlet’s day life. Residency periods are from 2-weeks or 1 month in duration, taking place two months per year.
