Open Call
Catskills Summer Shell House Artist Residency
Shell House Arts
Eligibility
The program is available to artists or designers working in primarily visual mediums. Applications are free, as is the residency. The residents are carefully selected based on the quality of their work, diversity considerations, and fit within the larger group. The multidisciplinary environment is designed to foster new connections and ideas, and the nature of the communal space makes it best suited for those who are excited to collaborate and connect over shared meals. Residents should have at least some physical component to how their work manifests or is displayed (meaning, it is not purely digital). While most past residents have come from formal art backgrounds, we also encourage creatives from professional fields looking to deepen a developed art practice or specific project to apply.
Number of Participants
Shell House Arts is dedicated to supporting artists and designers through programs that help facilitate and deepen creative practices. The free winter residency is an opportunity for five artists and designers to create, build, and imagine new works while living communally for 2-weeks in the Catskill mountains. The summer focus {outwards} creates space for connecting with nature, experimenting with new modes of working, and actively developing projects.
