Eligibility

Artists and writers interested in participating should send by email (info@buinho.pt) a short curriculum, portfolio, and description of the project/work to be developed during the residency. Applications will be evaluated by a curatorial committee and will take into consideration the following parameters: a) artistic quality; b) relevance of the project; c) motivation of the candidate. Writers, researchers, and curators don't require the sending of a portfolio but should send small essays or writing samples that should not exceed 20 pages.

Number of Participants

Buinho AIR provides an opportunity to a maximum of four (4) artists, designers, researchers, and writers from different creative backgrounds. Depending on availability residents are welcomed to have visiting guests or partners. We are pet and children friendly, having two different available houses to better accommodate the requests, besides 3 other working spaces with unique features as digital fabrication and plastic recycling (precious plastic)

Program Description

Living in a rural environment is nowadays an advantage. But Buinho offers more than just a safe place. We are located in the historic town of Messejana, Southern Portugal. Besides the surrounding natural landscape and heritage, our fablab and studios are equipped with all the necessary tools and equipment’s to enhance the possibilities of experimentation of our residents. Besides access to lasercutters, 3D printing and other technologies, Buinho also provides free introductory courses and production assistance. The creative residency program of Buinho provides private accommodation and shared work-spaces in five different locations within Messejana.
