Program Description
Participation in a residency program is regarded as an ideal way to launch or continue an artistic practice. Residencies give artists the physical and mental space to focus on developing their craft once they have left their formal education, removing some of the pressures of post-graduate life and allowing them to focus completely on their craft. At Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design, participants in the emerging artist residency will be given access to equipped shared studio space at a discounted rate in ceramics, printmaking, metal/jewellery, or textiles in exchange for community involvement. Emerging artists are also expected to spend one day a week hosting an open studio day, where they will act as a studio technician for their respective studios.
