Eligibility
What is the Halcyon Arts Lab Fellowship? At the intersection of art and social change, this nine-month residential fellowship is designed to provide support and resources to emerging artists working on projects which address issues of social justice, civic engagement, and community building. Arts Lab fellows strive to expand their practices and grow as leaders in their respective fields. In addition to meeting Halcyon’s definition of socially engaged and emerging artist, all applicants must: •Be a fulltime artist •Be a US citizen, resident, or student with the legal status to study or work in the US •Must complete the following application form online by 5pm EST, April 4, 2019 •Must be an individual applicant. •Must be 21 years of age or over and not enrolled in alternate full-time education at the start of the fellowship. Number of Participants
Halcyon accepts 8 artist per year, two DC based artist and 6 national or international artist.

Program Description
Halcyon Arts Lab Fellows have access to the following: •Dedicated studio space to focus on research, learning, and creative practice •A competitive financial scholarship to support living and material costs •Nine months of off-site residential accommodation (eligible for non-D.C. residents only) •A program of social impact classes, entrepreneurship training, artist talks, studio visits, civic engagement opportunities, and critiques •Opportunities for mentorship and critique from experienced art professionals •Opportunity to mentor DC high school students to provide guidance and inspiration in developing the next generation of socially-engaged artists •Collaboration and networking with fellow artists, social entrepreneurs and our program partner organizations in Washington, D.C. •Opportunity to participate and present at By the People Festival.
