Eligibility
KODA’s residency program is targeted to mid-career artists working in all media and creating conceptual and socially engaged work. While the term “mid-career” is up to interpretation, we consider artists having a significant body of works spanning several years, with min. 10 years of experience as professional artist, and previous solo exhibitions nationally and internationally, as “mid-career”. They are often without current gallery representation. KODA does not provide housing, transportation, or visa sponsorship. We do not accept applications from students currently enrolled in school. We do not require a BA, MA, BFA, or MFA. We do not yet accept applications from collectives/collaborative groups. We require the artist to devote a minimum of 20 hours per month to the residency. We require artists-in-residence to participate in open studios at least once during their residency term. We require artists-in-residence to attend monthly residency meetings. You must be 30+ years

Program Description
The Open Call for our Fall 2021 Social Practice Residency program is placed under the theme of Land + Environment. Proposals will be accepted via Submittable between Feb 1, 2021 and Mar 12, 2021 at 11:59PM EST. Shortlisted candidates will be notified by Jun 1, 2021 and invited for interviews. Two selected artists will be notified of the residency offer by Jun 30, 2021. Residency duration: Sep 1, 2021-Jan 5, 2022. Structure: Studio space with Swale at Governors Island (Sep 1-Nov 1, 2021) + Residency exhibition (Dec 4, 2021-Jan 5, 2022) at FiveMyles Plus/Space. Other benefits: - Honorarium in the amount of $1,000. - Professional development credit of $200. - Public engagement opportunities, with additional $250 honorarium per event, virtual if needed. - Studio visits with art world professionals, virtual if needed. - Monthly virtual curatorial and production consultancy with KODA’s team. - Networking and collaboration opportunities. - Access to Materials for the Arts.
