Program Description
The MacDowell Colony provides time, space, and an inspiring environment to artists of exceptional talent. A MacDowell Fellowship consists of exclusive use of a studio, accommodations, and three prepared meals a day for two weeks to two months. There is no cost for a Fellowship; however, artists are responsible for materials and travel expenses. In order to open the residency experience to a wider population of artists, MacDowell offers two financial assistance programs to those who have been awarded a Fellowship. Through the generosity of several foundations and individuals need-based stipends are available to artists who would not otherwise be able to afford the time away that a Fellowship requires. Additionally, travel reimbursement grants are available to defray the cost of domestic and international travel to and from New Hampshire.
