Nobody’s Fashion Week is a re-imagining of the fashion industry from the bottom up. We believe that change needs to happen in the fashion industry. The current industry is rooted in exclusivity, consumerism, hierarchy and unrealistic beauty ideals. We believe that Fashion is for everyone. Fashion is body politics, representation, sustainability, systems. Fashion is a medium that everybody participates in, whether they like it or not. We are seeking passionate artists, designers, educators and organizers that are redefining and exploring fashion beyond the conventions currently seen in the fashion industry. The Open Call prioritizes people based in New York City, but is open to applicants outside of NYC. Thanks to a generous grant from the DCLA, Disability Forward Fund, priority will also be given to disabled artists, or artists whose work addresses issues of disability and accessibility.
Number of Participants
We are looking for between 4-10 resident artists (approximately) for the Gallery Studio Residency portion of the exhibition. We do not yet have a limit for the number of workshops and other forms of participation (i.e. models, photographers, filmmakers, makeup artists). Please see our open call for ideas on other ways to participate: https://fluxfactory.submittable.com/submit/92c8b3da-74d6-43eb-a455-990a3343a013/exhibition-open-call-nobodys-fashion-week
