Program Description

For three weeks in June (3-24) a group of artists will populate the quaint streets of Nurri, a village on the beautiful island of Sardinia, Italy. The theme of the residency is Su Bixinau, or The Neighbourhood. We will work in an abandoned convent, full of atmospheric rooms, chapels, a cloister and a secret garden. The exhbition at the end will be held here. Additionally, participating artists are invited to take part in an art festival in San Sperate, celebrating the art of Sardinian sculptor Pinnuccio Sciola from May 31-June 2, as guests of the town, accommodation and meals provided. There will be events organized for the artists for this symposium. Sardinia contains some of Europe's best beaches as well as fascinating archeaological sites. Villages have strong local traditions and embrace a zero kilometre diet. Daytrips to various sites, museums and beaches will be planned according to the group's interests.
