Eligibility

This Summer Residency is targeted at younger artists of all disciplines in their 20s and 30s seeking a place to explore their creative process, form community, collaborate, and recharge or boost their life as an artist. If you are seeking a residency where you have a pristine studio and all day completely to yourself to focus on your craft, this may not be for you. But if you want to be outdoors, collaborate, form community, and live in a tent, this just may be the perfect fit! You will need to fill out the application on our website, as well as submit a website of your work, or a CV along with examples of your work.

Number of Participants

There will be between 6-12 artists at the land at any given time between June-August. In addition, a group of 2-4 Sable Team Members live and work at the land, and will be there to help with the everyday needs of the resident artists.

Program Description

Residencies are 1-2 months from June through August. Residency fee is $300/month. Artists are expected to participate in 12 hrs per week in work-trade. June and July: Residents are free to be as creative/wild/ambitious as they wish with their time, and have the entire Sable Land as their studio. Apart from copious time designated to creative work, on a day to day basis Residents can expect to spend time engaging in work-trade, showing off their cooking skills for our family-style dinners, or wandering around the land exploring. We have great swimming nearby and naps in the field are encouraged! August: In addition to everything above, the August residency is very focused on a guided collaborative project involving all of the Resident Artists. This project will center around a theme (still undecided) and the artists will work together each day to create a performance/opening/spectacle/world that will culminate in our “Water in the Wood” showcase near the end of August.
