Eligibility

The Textile Quartet addresses artists who work (or wish to work) with textile art, textile techniques, textile installation, textile and narrative, textile and performance, textile design, feminist art, soft sculpture. The two-week workshop focusses on artists and designers who wish to get introduced in the unique textile traditionion of Greece, extend their knowledge in contemporary textile art and techniques, experiment with the performing aspect of textile art, visit professionals, share experiences. To apply, send us an email with a cover letter including your bio/cv and website (no social media pages or blog) or 6-8 images of your work (if no website available) and state your incentive to participate in The Textile Quartet. Individual artists and groups may apply. Artist who want to apply for funding receive a recommendation letter. Program Description

The Textile Quartet offers the possibility to explore Greece's rich textile tradition and contemporary textile art through a series of specialized workshops, as well as the opportunity to share ideas and experiences and present your personal work in a four-day exhibition in Leonidio, Arcadia. The workshop includes a customized introduction into ancient, Byzantine and contemporary Greek culture, spezialized lectures about textile motifs, symbols and history, techniques, experimental practice with textile and tools, performance and narration, individual networking strategies, curatorial advice and guided tours through Leonidio and local professionals' workshops. The artists will also practice the set up, communication and presentation of a textile art show. Breakfast, snacks and two Greek cuisine dinners make part of the bonding experience. The Textile Quartet provides shared accommodation in a beautiful 19th century mansion and a shared working space in a town untouched by time.
