Eligibility

This residency is for visual artists with an exhibition/publication record, who have completed formal training in visual arts at the post-secondary level, or equivalent experience and recognition from their peers. Please note: International participants are welcome to apply to on-campus programs that start after January 1, 2022. We will continue to monitor the situation closely, and ask that all those applying to programs investigate and monitor current regulations of the country from which you will be travelling. Note that if a quarantine period is required, this will be at the expense of the participant.

Collaborative groups are welcome to apply. Groups no larger than two people will be considered for this program.

Program Description

The Banff Artist in Residence program is designed for visual artists to focus on their own practice in a supportive learning environment. Participants are encouraged to explore new ideas, create, self-direct their research and time, and cultivate new directions in their work — all while surrounded by a community of peers within Banff Centre’s spectacular mountain setting. The program encourages experimentation via access to a full suite of shared production facilities and knowledgeable staff who are available to provide technical support and assistance. Ceramics, Sculpture, Photography, Printmaking, Papermaking and Digital Media production facilities will all be available for this program. Application Deadline: October 13, 2021 Program Dates: January 10 - February 11, 2022 *Financial Aid of 100% is available to cover tuition, and Financial Aid of 50% is available to offset food and accommodation costs.
