About
1000 Islands Film & Stage creates opportunities for artists working in performance to be part of projects in an immersive environment. Located in the rural part of Eastern Ontario, the studio building and outdoor lots offer space to develop, workshop, stage and film creative work. Guest rooms are available for artists to stay 1 - 3 nights. All projects are short term and intense. Directed by Kathleen Reichelt and Wesley Rickert who have been working together since 2008, managing artist run spaces, producing audio recordings, feature length art films, performance events and experimental theatre. Local Information
The 1000 Islands is an international destination for natural beauty, wildlife, fresh water lakes, St Lawrence river cruises, theatre, cycling, local breweries and cuisine. The residency is located just down the road from Charleston Lake, where you can swim, canoe, and hike trails on the rugged Canadian Shield. The studio is on a multi acre property, with plenty of quiet and privacy. Our closest neighbours are acres away. The house is a spacious century home and the studio is only 50 feet away in a separate building. With no light pollution, you can see the Milky Way on a clear night.
