ROJA ART LAB is an artist-run, non-profit initiative, public association and the mission statement of the organisation is to develop the regional and international collaboration between different culture fields, organisations and professionals. The groups main activities is to contribute on exchange between culture, science and education fields organizing; short term residency ROJA ART LAB, festivals, workshops, lectures, presentations etc.. ROKU members has organized events such as Art Laboratory ROJARAKU in Roja (1997 - 2006) ; Art Laboratory AIZ – artists residency (2009 -2011) in Aizpute at SERDE workshop and residency centre (www.serde.lv) , Cinema, Art, Culture festival ROJAL (2011 -2015).
ROJA ART LAB is located on the North Kurland coast of the Riga Bay in little town Roja which is situated at the estuary of the Roja river and the Baltic Sea (120 km from Capital city Riga). At present, Roja has about 4500 inhabitants. The area is surrounded by a virtually untouched natural environment. The sea, dunes, sandy beach, pine forests and the appealing coastal village serve as a perfect setting for work and recreation.
