About

Artists in Residence in Everglades, Inc. (AIRIE)'s mission is to support and enhance the arts and cultural heritage of the Everglades subtropical wilderness through artist residency and public outreach programs, in partnership with Everglades National Park. AIRIE is a nonprofit organization that pairs the cultural arts with environmentalism. We operate a month-long residency for artists, writers, performers and curators in the Everglades National Park, and present art exhibitions and public programs to the public. AIRIE artists live in a furnished, air-conditioned apartment in the park for one-month, and are introduced to scientists, park rangers, academics and educators to enhance their experience and understanding of the Everglades. Year round exhibitions at the AIRIE Nest Gallery, the only art contemporary art exhibition space in a National Park, welcome over 250,000 local, national and international visitors per year.
