About
B.A. is a residency program for visual artists, writers and curators. We believe that residency opportunities nurture artist's potential, giving them a chance to bring a new and fresh drive to their art practice through a change of environment. Engaging with a new culture in the surrounding community and Italy in general are an important part of this residency.
Local Information
Location Benaco Arte is located in the vineyards where is produced the famous Italian wine Lugana, 5 minutes by bike from Lago di Garda (Lake Garda) in Sirmione. The antique name of the lake is Benaco, which comes from the Latin word BENACUS because of the many promontories. Sirmione is a town in the province of Brescia, in Lombardy (northern Italy), located on the southern part of lake Garda, its peninsula divides the lower part of Lake Garda in two. The two main historical landmarks of Sirmione are: the so-called Grotte di Catullus (Grotte di Catullo_Catullo’s caves), one of the largest example of a Roman private “villa” discovered in northern Italy. And the Castello Scaligero (Scaligero Castle) dated back to the XIII century. The town is a well known and historic North-European touristic destination, renowned for its hot springs and beautiful lake side landscape.
