Breckenridge is an outstanding example of a Colorado mining boomtown. Most of the historic buildings in town date from a span of eight decades beginning in 1862 and ending in 1942. The charm of Breckenridge lies in its sense of history and in its sense of community. Since its beginning as a mining town, Breckenridge has developed into a world class community with such amenities as the Breckenridge Ski Area, Stephen C. West Ice Arena, Breckenridge Golf Course, the Breckenridge Recreation Center, Riverwalk Performing Arts Center, and the Breckenridge Arts District. Breckenridge is located in the heart of the Ten Mile Range, which allows its residents to have a mountainous wilderness at their back door. Having such diverse amenities, the local community in Breckenridge is active with wide ranging interests. We are highly visible, attracting visitors both nationally and internationally.
