Cortiço Artist Residency welcomes individual artist or groups to create, discuss and discover the region of Alentejo. Our goal is to host and follow artists from all around the world, offering a working retreat surrounded by nature and silence but also by a creative community existing in Montemor-o-Novo. There are two ways of being a resident artist at Cortiço Artist Residency: 1 By invitation (no fee required). 2 By spontaneus application (fee required).

Local Information

Cortiço Artist Residency is an old farmhouse completely renovated and located in the rural environment of Fazendas-do-Cortiço, 5 minutes from Montemor-o-Novo. The house is located on a plot covered by flora (orange, olive, pomegranate and fig trees, as well as seasonal flowers). The residency is parted by two levels: – On the ground floor, a large fully equipped kitchen, a cathedral living room, two bedrooms with double beds and desks, a bathroom / WC. – Upstairs, two bedrooms, with double beds and desks, a mezzanine / studio, a bathroom / WC. – A large terrace extends the kitchen and the living room with a view to the garden and the countryside.
