About
XCHC (Exchange Christchurch) is a creative hub offering resources designed to foster connectedness and collaboration for development in the creative industries. We provide co-working, artist studio/production space, workshop, exhibition and event spaces, accommodation, and a cafe/bar designed as a platform for Christchurch creatives to be productive, showcase their work and engage with their local community and other industry professionals. Our purpose is to Cultivate a Creative Ecology; helping everyone find their creative potential by bringing together the space and people needed to do so.
Local Information
Sitting just outside of the central city, XCHC is a 500m² warehouse with a venue, studios, cafe/bar downstairs and an apartment upstairs. Christchurch is the biggest city in the South Island of New Zealand. With outdoor activities ranging from bouldering, snowboarding, surfing, and mountain biking in the back yard, the city is also an early 21st-century city; showcasing new buildings mixed with old beautiful herritage throughout. The city is flat and perfect for biking, and you can easily get from one side of the city to the other in under 10 minutes via public electric scooters, car, or bike. With 400,000 people and growing, Christchurch is becoming one of the most interesting cities to live in because of its opportunities for new business and ideas; particularly around Social Enterprise and Sustainability.
