About
The Witold Pilecki Center for Totalitarian Studies and the Institute of Solidarity and Valor has joined forces – we begin a new chapter as the Pilecki Institute. Making use of its potential as a research and cultural institution, the Pilecki Institute will pursue complementary research into the history of the 20th century, with a special focus on East Central Europe and the period of the German and Soviet totalitarianisms. Historical research We are taking up new challenges. We aim to preserve historical memory and create space for international and interdisciplinary discussion among researchers of the 20th century. The Institute will conduct research in the field of history, social sciences and the humanities, working towards augmenting and documenting our knowledge of totalitarianisms as well as the German and Soviet atrocities committed in the 20th century.
