We invite artists from a wide range of disciplines and mediums to apply for residencies of 3 or 6 weeks in length during our open seasons. We are currently accepting applications for 3 or 6 week, resourced, self-directed residencies during the following residency seasons in 2025: Feb. 3 - 22, June 23 - Aug. 2 and Sept. 15 - Oct. 25. Artists enjoy access to secure internet, computer with printer/scanner, wood shop, printmaking studio, a range of artist furniture and equipment, connection with local craftsmen and materials suppliers, networking with local artists and gatekeepers, local volunteer assistants, in-studio consulting and assistance by our founding artists, culminating Exhibition/Open Studios event and promotion.

Local Information

Tetouan, Morocco is the ideal art-making location. Tetouan is a jewel of a city, situated in the North of Morocco, on the North-Western tip of Africa. It is nestled up against the Mediterranean Sea in a beautiful valley where two mountain ranges meet. Many say that Tetouan is one of the most beautiful cities in Morocco. Its medina, the ancient walled quarter of the city, is just a 5 minute walk from our studio and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a rich history and culture. Tetouan also touts Morocco’s most prestigious National Institute of Fine Art and is the birthplace of a unique grassroots contemporary arts movement.

Alumni Reviews

2015 Alumni - Artist in Residence

My decision to participate in an artist residency was driven by a desire to seek out new inspirations and invigorate my art practice. To explore a unique culture outside and to engage with artists whose life experiences varied from my own. Green Olive Arts offered me the opportunity to realize these goals. I was greeted with warmth by the GOA staff. I was welcomed into their families and grew to know each of them far beyond simply being my hosts. The city of Tetouan is a magical place. The sights, smells, and flavors are still fresh in my mind. The openness and hospitality of everyone I engaged with was memorable and appreciated. I strongly recommend being courageous and getting lost in the Medina. I was struck by the openness and eagerness of local artists to engage without ego or pretense. I went in search of what I believed to be foreign to me, only to come away with an appreciation for what was familiar and shared. My sincerest thanks to Jeff, Peter and Rachel.
