Greywood Arts is a welcoming multi-disciplinary artist’s residency in Killeagh, East Cork. Artists, creatives and academics in all disciplines can stay in self-catering accommodation and have access to workspace. We have a movement studio, a visual arts studio, space for writers, and a library with a piano for musicians, as well as a large dining/meeting room. We support interaction between visiting artists and the local community in the form of work-in-progress showings, demonstrations, readings, or concerts. These encounters should serve the artist’s process, while also exposing a rural village to a vast variety of art forms and art-making processes. We value being articulate and transparent about process; work that is compelling, vital, and timely; Risk taking, pushing boundaries, play, experimentation; collaborative and interdisciplinary work; work at all stages and inclusivity.
Greywood is at the foot of Glenbower Wood, a perfect spot for walks and contemplation. A short walk from the house, its walking trails encompass the Dissour River, a playground, holy wells, a sheela na gig, and a giant redwood tree. Greywood is located in the village centre, residents have easy access to shops, pubs and amenities. We are next door to one of the oldest thatched roof pubs in Ireland. Killeagh is a rural village in East Cork, about a 40 minute drive from Cork City, and between the larger towns of Youghal and Midleton. We are on the bus route from Cork city to Waterford.
