About

Malt AIR is a funded artist residency program that focuses on networking and research. It aims to support the artistic process by giving artists time, space and opportunity for reflection and focus, in close dialogue with Danish artists and other art professionals in Denmark. The residency is based primarily in Ebeltoft, Denmark - with activities in Copenhagen, Aarhus and Holstebro. Malt AIR is a collaboration between Maltfabrikken, Art Hub Copenhagen, and The Jutland Art Academy, with strategic partners Aarhus Center for Visual Art, The House for Art and Design, and The Danish Art Workshops. Malt AIR is supported by the Danish Arts Foundation.

Local Information

Malt AIR is based mainly in Maltfabrikken, a cultural center in the small town of Ebeltoft, Denmark. This iconic factory closed down in 1998 and has been turned into a hub for art, culture and creativity, in a welcoming local community Malt AIR offers modern residence facilities in an inspiring location built specifically for the purpose. As a resident, you will be accommodated in a shared apartment with views over the sea and the Mols Bjerge National Park. You will have your own room, your own studio and access to shared facilities. The residence facility is placed in an ‘artist cluster’ with adjoining garden and workshops, which are also used by Danish artists. The workshop are equipped with the basic tools required for wood- and metal-work.
