Overheard Map of Now is an annual residency project, which takes as its starting point only that which already exists in the space it is in. The project seeks to support multidisciplinary and highly collaborative work with emerging artists. Overheard Map is not about finished work or familiar ground, and does not culminate in a “final piece” or “curated show.” Instead, like an art version of Chinese Whispers, each artist is asked to respond to the previous one; creating, destroying and reimagining what came before. Founded in 2015 by Sam Boullier and Sophie Mak-Schram, Overheard Map takes place in a different location every year, and is open to the public throughout the residency period.
