About

PICTURE BERLIN, located in Berlin, Germany and founded in 2009, is an artist-initiated program developed by artists for artists. PICTURE BERLIN, is a dérive as it meanders through Berlin, supporting meaningful exchanges between art intermediaries and artists while building active, dynamic and long lasting networks. PICTURE BERLIN offers an intense daily exploration of unique experiences during its Sessions. Each popular 10 day Session includes intensive daily programming involving workshops, psycho-geographic walks, discussions, artist studio visits, critiques with Berlin-based curators and artists in addition to presentations, all of which are highly specialized and curated to fit the incoming participants of each Session. Due to our highly expansive Berlin network, there has never been a repeat program. We currently are offering 2 10-day Sessions; REIMAGINING WANDERS (focusing on art and activism) and MASH-UP (focusing on the methodolody of collage).

2014 Alumni - Picture Berlin

I did the Picture Berlin program in 2014 and can highly recommend it to a wide range of creative professionals: people who want to feed their practice with new energy and ideas, are looking for an introduction to the city's creative scene through the programs well established networks, or are looking to broaden their own creative community. While different to the age-old idea of a residency where you share living quarters, the busy, diverse program allows for intense dialogue and exchange of ideas, all while being flexible enough that there are moments to enjoy good food together and reflect. The other thing that also sets it apart from many other programs is that it is run entirely by artists, for artists, so creative practice and community lay at the heart of the program each year.

2011 Alumni - Picture Berlin

This program truly changed my life and led me to eventually moving to Berlin and starting a career. It is dynamic, engaging, and inspiring. I can't recommend it enough.
