About

Qayyem is a roaming platform for curatorial research co-founded in 2018 by the organisers and curators Noura Al Khasawneh and Noura Salem based in Amman, Jordan, and the curator and writer Berit Schuck based in Berlin, Germany. Since 2019, Qayyem organises an intensive, year-long programme featuring workshops, seminars, residencies and public programmes that aims to encourage emerging researchers and curators residing in or from the Arab world to work with new terms of curating and create exhibitions from the within the region. Former mentors and co-investigators include Daniel Blanga Gubbay, María Berríos, Bassam El Baroni, Binna Choi, Lara Khaldi, Yazan Khalili, Mick Wilson and Paul O'Neill and Leire Vergara.

Local Information

Conceived as a roaming platform, Qayyem was co-organised by MASS Alexandria (EG), the MMAG Foundation in Amman (JO) and Atelier Kissaria in Tangier (MA) in its first year. In 2021/22, Qayyem will be at home at the MMAG Foundation and at a variety of independent small-scale institutions aorund the Mediterranean basin.
