About

QTspace is an independent art space and speculative research project. It is based in Sanya on Hainan Island & online. Foregrounded by rising sea-levels, the increasing mobility of the younger generation and the question of why people want to live in holiday apartment by the sea, QTspace investigates and re-defines how to communicate from off-places and outside of larger hubs & cities, in form as an offline & online space in a research-based practice. Artists working in the contemporary arts who are interested in researching and working on topics related to the geographical location of the residency, from a research-based background and aligning on topics which are being investigated by QTspace. The working process and/or end-result will be presented online, next to the work on site, as an ongoing archival project. A specific end-result is welcome, however not necessary for this residency.

Local Information

The on-site form of QTspace is located in an apartment complex in Sanya, right next to the sea. The apartment has a living room, a bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen and a sleeping room with a bed.
