The mandate of the School of the Photographic Arts: Ottawa (SPAO) is to provide students, artists, and the general public, the knowledge, skills, resources, and environment necessary for the advancement of photographic artistry, visual literacy and personal vision. SPAO provides an intensive and collaborative learning experience and enriches the photographic and visual arts culture of Ottawa and beyond. SPAO’s activities include community collaborations, classes and workshops, exhibitions and outreach. The SPAO Centre Gallery produces seven exhibitions per year celebrating the work of regional, national and international artists working in lens-based media.
