SMACH
About
SMACH is an acronym that stands for San Martino Constellation of Art, Culture and History. Since its name, the project aims to enhance the cultural and landscape heritage of San Martino and Val Badia. It has been doing so, since 2012, with the Biennial, which has so far involved more than 60 men and women artists, from over 20 countries, in an osmotic exchange with the territory activated by site-specific works selected through an open call. Since 2018, SMACH's mission also resides in Val dl'Ert, an open-air sculpture park created in an abandoned valley in San Martino where more than 20 works are exhibited in dialogue with the nature and history of the place. In both projects, one of the cornerstones is the rediscovery of little-known and undervalued cultural and natural resources. Both the Biennale and Val dl'Ert are free access, and SMACH also organizes side events such as concerts, performances, screenings, guided tours and educational workshops.
Local Information
We are located in Val Badia, in the heart of the Dolomites. In San Martino in Badia we have Val dl'Ert, the public art-in-nature park. Which is always open for free every day of the year. The Biennale, on the other hand, is scattered in 10 mountain locations in the valley.
