Studios at MASS MoCA
About
Since October 2015, The Studios at MASS MoCA have hosted over 450 artists and writers for residencies up to 10 weeks. Hosted by MASS MoCA’s Assets for Artists program, selected artists receive private studio space on MASS MoCA’s campus, newly renovated housing, free access to the museum’s galleries throughout the residency, optional financial and business coaching from Assets for Artists staff, and a daily group meal.

The residency is located on the campus of MASS MoCA -- the largest contemporary arts center in America -- in North Adams, Massachusetts, approximately 3 hours from New York City and Boston.

2018 Alumni - Assets for Artists
Great atmosphere. Studios are private but very close together. Comunal lunch is encouraged but optional. The accommodations are simple, shared apartments and comunal kitchen and bathroom with private bedrooms. Some rooms are pretty small, mine was very nice though. It was great for a 2 week residency. I would have stayed for three weeks if I could have taken more time off from work. MassMoCa is an amazing place to hang out and a wonderful place to get inspired. The surroundings are gorgeous and if you like hiking and nature, it's definitely a plus. The program is very freeform and works best if you enjoy a self-guided approach. You will not get a lot of structure or feedback from staff unless you request it specifically, so make sure to connect with the other artists of the cohort in order to organize crits and studio visits.
