Taita Studio
About
Taita Studio is a self-initiated artist residency and gallery located in the city of Malaga, in Spain’s southernmost region. We have been functioning for over three years and, over time, we have attracted solo artists and creatives who were seeking time for focused work, reflection, and engagement with a different environment and culture. As the Director of Taita Studio and also an artist myself, I decided to maintain Taita as a non-government funded project or organisation, in order to allow artists to work at their own pace and without any expectations or donation requirements. Taita Studio exists as a little sanctuary for artists to rent and develop their practice while living in a relaxed environment and be inspired by great culture.
Local Information
Taita Studio is located in the city of Málaga, which has been recently addressed as "the new Barcelona" of Spain. Málaga is a really up and coming city with a great cultural offer as well as a really relaxed lifestyle. The city is filled with museums to visit (CAC Málaga, La Térmica, Museo Picasso, Museo C. Thyssen, Centre Pompidou Málaga, Museo del Vidrio y Cristal), and there are many historical sites to discover both inside the city and in the nearby towns. Previous resident artists have found Málaga to be a relatively cosmopolitan city with enough to feed an artist's thirst and yet not so much that one feels is missing out - a great balance to get inspired but also be productive.
