About
Tangent Projects started as a curatorial initiative set up to work with artists on site-responsive exhibitions and projects. Without a commercial bias and with experimentation encouraged, Tangent Projects invites artists to explore the diversions and deviations within their artistic practice. In simple terms, to give artists the leeway to "go off on a tangent". Tangent Projects is now a small independent artspace with the remit of not only offering an exhibition space for artists to experiment with their practice but also a space to act as a counterpoint to the current gallery model by actively seeking to redress and challenge inequality within the arts by exhibiting work by artists that are all too often marginalised. Within this new artspace there are 7 affordable artist studios and a small art gallery/project space. The gallery opened in June 2019.
