About
The Luminary is an incubator for new ideas in the arts founded in 2007 as a forum for artistic research, experimentation and innovation. We present exceptional art embedded in social and cultural contexts, viewing contemporary art as an essential expression of our time. Through an active roster of exhibitions, educational programs, outreach, and events, The Luminary acts as a convergence point for diverse publics to engage with leading art and ideas.
Local Information
The Luminary is located in the Cherokee Street neighborhood of South St. Louis, a seedbed of art and activism and one of the most diverse areas in the region. The Luminary acts as an anchor in the area with a 17,000 sq/ft building that hosts ten studios, three galleries, and more across three floors.
