In support of the artists, thinkers, researchers, and tellers of our times, we share our wonderment in the wilderness. We invite those seeking the wisdom, perspective, inspiration, and clarity that wilderness immersion and adventure provide. Thematically evolving programs and self-directed retreats in spectacularly beautiful wilderness locations in Canada and around the world provide unique opportunities for artists, travellers, and adventurers to turn inward, to turn outward, to be alone, to come together, to explore the alchemy of juxtaposed origins with the inherent energies of wilderness escape for research and creation, and to experience the catharsis of collaboration, exhibition, and community building across cultures and geographies. At The Wild: Artist In Residence, we align our curatorial collaborations with a pursuit to honour wild ecologies, international communities, personal histories, & diverse cultures. Apply by July 9 for Italy's Amalfi Coast this October!
In addition to an evolving series of travelling residencies around the world from time to time, our three permanent locations in Canada host individuals, partners and families in self-directed residencies throughout the year as well as thematically curated open calls. THEANO POINT: a pristinely wild 300 acre peninsula of privately owned Lake Superior shoreline, hidden beaches, soaring bluffs, lush forests, and dramatic coastlines is a vast natural kingdom for adventurers, and a converted vintage Airstream studio-cabin provides cozy off-grid live-work space. CORAL CABIN: an ocean-front salt-box cabin on New World Island, between Fogo Island and Twilingate Island on Newfoundland's fabled north shore provides the experience of going back in time in a remote rural cove. WILD MILL STUDIOS: a restored century mill with large professional studio spaces and boutique hotel amenities in a picturesque hamlet between Toronto and Georgian Bay on the Niagara Escarpment is our headquarters.
