About
Toronto Animated Image Society (TAIS) As a non-profit charitable organization and artist-run production support centre TAIS is dedicated to exploring and promoting the art of independent (non-commercial) animation. Founded in 1984, TAIS supports animation art making, with a focus on skills development and providing affordable access to studios and equipment for artists. TAIS facilitates regular community-based and educational workshop programs for first-timers through to experienced creators. Our studios offer specialized equipment and resources to support all forms of animation production, including classical and digital hand-drawn, stop motion, 3D, VFX, and VR animation, as well as analog and broadly experimental forms. TAIS maintains a growing membership of 150-200 animators and enthusiasts from Toronto, across Canada and around the world. TAIS receives funding from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council and the Toronto Arts Council.
