Wave Farm is a non-profit arts organization driven by experimentation with broadcast media and the airwaves. A pioneer of the Transmission Arts genre, Wave Farm programs such as Artist Residencies, the Transmission Art Archive, WGXC 90.7-FM, and the Media Arts Assistance Fund provide access to transmission technologies and support artists and organizations that engage with media as an art form.
Located in the northern foothills of the Catskill Mountain Park, Wave Farm is situated on 29 retreat-like acres with meadows, ponds, mountain views, and forested walking paths. Wave Farm is located Acra, a hamlet in the rural town of Cairo in Greene County, NY, 18 miles from Hudson, 44 miles from Albany, and 120 miles from New York City. The Wave Farm Study Center serves as the facility for the Residency Program, and includes ADA compliant accommodations and workspace for residents, a unique library of materials specific to the transmission art genre, and a broadcast studio for Wave Farm’s WGXC 90.7-FM and 1620-AM. The Study Center reading, viewing, and listening library contains hundreds of critical texts and transmission works. This growing collection of reference materials includes books, journals, articles, manuals, and audio and video files specific to transmission arts, radio, video, performance, sound, media theory, earthworks, and contemporary art practice.
