About

Zaratan – Arte Contemporânea is a not-for-profit space and an organization founded by artists in Lisbon city center in November 2014. Zaratan is a creation, production and promotion structure for contemporary art and a space of reflection and listening. In order to stimulate creativity and contribute to generate valid cultural processes, Zaratan has developed so far an heterogeneous and mostly free of charge agenda of events, that parallel to the regular schedule of exhibitions, presents video-projections, concerts, talks by artists, presentations and performances. Zaratan defends an interdisciplinary attitude and aims to promote a deeper comprehension of the artistic languages of the present with an independent structure.

Local Information

The operational headquarters for the artist is located in Rua de São Bento, in a small villa that consists in the number 434 (apartment and studio) and number 432 (gallery), located in the city center; with small local markets, supermarkets, bars, cafes, restaurants and parks, all in a 10 min walk radius. Zaratan is located in the artistic heart of Lisbon: 3 minutes walk from the National Parliament and in front of the House Museum of fado biggest singer Amália Rodrigues and surrounded by the most prestigious art galleries, museums and art foundations. Bus at 1 min walk - subway at 5 min walk - tram at 5 min walk.
