Eligibility

All artists generating new works of art are eligible to apply to MacDowell. Students currently enrolled in a degree program are asked to wait to apply until they are no longer a student.

Number of Participants

MacDowell hosts 20-30 artists at one time. The artists in residence will vary in their creative disciplines, geography and diversity.

Program Description

MacDowell provides time, space, and an inspiring environment to artists of exceptional talent. A MacDowell Fellowship consists of exclusive use of a studio, accommodations, and three prepared meals a day for two to six weeks. There are no residency fees. Artists are responsible for materials and travel expenses: financial stipends (travel and general) are available to artists in residence based on financial need. MacDowell encourages applications from artists representing the widest possible range of perspectives and demographics.
