About
AlterWork Studios is an open access art and community center. Its mission is to be a major resource for contemporary artists, helping them create new artwork and advance their careers by offering access to affordable workspace, tools, classes, workshops and public exposure. This is a multi-disciplinary working facility for independently produced projects. Artist can create their artwork in a beautiful sunlit space, put on art shows and collaborate with a great artist community. Our facility offers tools for sculpture, printmaking, screen-printing, pottery, woodworking, kiln, sewing, painting and lots more. AlterWork Studios is open to US and international artists.
Local Information
We are located 2 train stops outside of Manhattan in Long Island City's Kaufman Arts District, within walking distance to the Flux Factory, Museum of the Moving Image, Kaufman Astoria Film Studios, Socrates Sculpture Park, Isamu Noguchi and MoMA PS1. We are part of a very vibrant and growing artist community and we encourage and aid in collaborations and community outreach with other art organizations.
