About

Art residencies play an important role in the activity of Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art, Warsaw. Since 2002, we have continually developed and re-defined our residency programme, sustaining an up-to-date critical reflection on the capacities of residencies as an artistic and instituting practice. We have used our long-standing experience to implement courageous programmes responding to ever-changing relations between creators, organisations and social environment. In the frame of these programmes, the participating artists and curators are able to research and experiment in selected fields. Over the years we have hosted in Warsaw over 250 art professionals, curators, artists, researchers, organisers, individuals and collectives representing more than 50 countries from Europe, Asia, North America, South America and Africa. The Residency Programme is financially supported by the City of Warsaw.

Local Information

Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art is a public institution that has been supporting, collecting, documenting and presenting Polish and international art since 1985. U–jazdowski is located in the heart of Warsaw, in a former royal residence, reconstructed to its current shape in the 1980s. Our mission is to reflect on the world by means of art. The essence of the U–jazdowski’s programme is to show the diverse disciplines of contemporary artistic practice in the process of transformation, at the moment of re-acting to current cultural, sociological, and geopolitical phenomena in the modern world. The institution's location is unique. Both in the city centre and nearby the Vistula river, it allows the residents to enjoy the vibrant city life, its exciting art scene as well as the surrounding nature.
