Program Description

Fine art residencies at the BSR offer artists the superb opportunity to research and focus upon work away from normal pressures, and to use the BSR as a base to explore Rome and Italy, and respond to their remarkable cultural heritage. A regular programme of events enables award-holders to meet and interact with others in their own and other disciplines, both from the BSR and the unique cluster of foreign academies in Rome. A programme of exhibitions gives all artists the opportunity to show their work. Supported by funding from the Arts Council of Wales, the Fellowship is envisaged as an open-ended learning opportunity, enabling a significant artist to utilise an environment as a conductive means to experiment and create work. Previous holders of the Fellowship have been Kelly Best, Jennifer Taylor (with an image of her performance work above), Samuel Hasler and Holly Davey.
