Estudio Abierto invites you to participate in the open call for our Art Residency program for production, research, and curatorial development. The program is directed to artists, Cultural affairs managers, designers and researchers to work and live in Oaxaca, Mexico, for a short term of a month or two. ​ The residency program is thought to stimulate the creative and reflexive process from meeting with local and global cultural actors. We are interested in set dialogues with community visions to discuss the social, economic and aesthetic dynamics of the place as of the recognition of their cultural practices in order to stimulate the exchange and collaboration between cultural creators and artistic local and global institutions emphasizing in projects which language and format fit in contemporary debates.

Number of Participants

The residence has a maximum capacity of 3 people per month and is available during the months of: July (2019) to December 2019

Program Description

Estudio Abierto it has as its headquarters the studio workshop on the outskirts of the city located in an strategical point outside the city, where artisans, archeological sites and traditional market converge to link and help to improve the creative proposals of the artists and at the same time allow them to have a reflexive exercise with regards of the practices coming from the place. We collaborate with independent galleries in the historic center, workshops, artists and artisans of the city forming working links between actors of the cultural scene and artists who come to work and investigate local work. ​ The residence has a network of production workshops for artists and craftsmen: Pottery workshop Engraving workshop Digital printing laboratory Textile workshop (wool) Carved in wood Elaboration of objects with reed Mode: 1.-For artists in production 2.- For Curators and Researches More info:
