Eligibility

ARTHAUS is open to all artists and curators looking for an immersive experience in their work and research. We are open all year round, and consider submissions in a case-by-case basis. To apply to stay with us or to join one of our programs, please send us an email at arthauslab@gmail.com with the following info: - Curriculum Vitae listing all relevant training and experience. - Scan of Passport with expiration date no sooner than three month after the final day of Residency. - Images of previous works and links to videos, press, etc. - Proposal for project to be developed over course of residency. Please include: .Brief summary of the project. .Any special features of the project, materials and technical requirements. .Timeframe and space requirements of the project. .Proposal may be accompanied by reference images. - Email subject line should read: “[Participant’s name]

Number of Participants

Host capability: 4 participants. Duration: typically 1 month. (If you have an specific timeline, please let us know!) Our space in Havana’s city center: 
- One exhibition space (54 m2) with video projection capability.
 - A joint work space with office supplies and laptops available. - A private studio with a single bed, private work space, bathroom and kitchen. - A private room with a double bed and private bathroom. - A shared room with two single beds and shared bathroom. All rooms and exhibition spaces are within the main house, with access to the Arthaus common areas, patio, dining room, shared bathroom and kitchen. Other resources available to our residents: - Access to a Spanish-English translator - Visits to Cuban art galleries and artist studios - Technical and curatorial assistance for the development of their projects - Video shooting equipment and production crew. - Volunteer programs in local communities - We can coordinate groups work-stay visits to Havana

Program Description

We are an independently funded art space. Our main goal is to facilitate professional and artistic development for international artist. Agenda: Our residents have the chance to live and work in a colonial house in Vedado, La Habana; and to participate in a range activities such as talks, meetings, and studio visits. Participants are encouraged to propose talks and workshops, and to learn about the socio-cultural scenario in Cuba. Cost: Each artist must pay airfare to and from Havana, Cuba; residency fee, meal costs, and incidental expenses incurred in the course of the residency will be the responsibility of the artist. We can make letters of invitation in case you wish to apply for outside funding. The cost of the residence must be paid 50% via wire at the moment of acceptance of the residence.
