SACRED & PROFANE - 7-day jewellery art workshop+presentation in Arcadia/GREECE

Eligibility
"Sacred & Profane" addresses artists who work - or decide to work - with the medium jewellery. The workshop is eligible for amateurs and professsionals who want to extend their practice in performance, story telling, symbols and mysteries - and who want to learn about the cultural history of jewellery and sacred objects in Greece. The participants will be introduced to the concepts of archaic thought and the ancient Greek myths of Dionysus, Pan and the Nymphs. The workshop includes personal promotion, press and media support, as well as documentation on the FaveLAB homepage . At the end of the workshop week, the work will be presented public event in the studio and exhibition space AVGO AYGO. Besides the program (see below) "Sacred & Profane" provides accommodation + studio for 7 days/6 nights in a 19th century mansion and in Leonidio. Participants share accommodation (2 bedrooms/2 artists), studio and experiences. Breakfast and snacks are included in the fee.

Program Description
Workshop program: • Performance techniques, concepts & presentation • Introduction into ancient, Byzantine and contemporary Greek culture and jewellery art • Narrative and story board • The Sacred & The Profane: Apollo or Dionysus? Motifs, symbols, semiotics of jewellery • Contemporary jewellery brainstorming: How to present it, whom to address, how to overcome the constraints of the jewellery market. • A guided tour through the 19th century town of Leonidio. Visit of its archaic and medieval monuments. • Visit to the monastery of St.Nikolaus and the sacred cave of Dionysos.
