About

In October 2017, GIAP (Research Group in Art and Politics, founded in 2013 by Natalia Arcos & Alessandro Zagato) opened the doors of CASA GIAP, a space for collective events in the heart of San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas, México. Casa Giap is a comfortable living and working space where we organize residencies, seminars, workshops, and other activities. Principally, we host research residencies for academics and artists who want to know Chiapas, and divelop creative projects in this vibrant region.

Local Information

CASA GIAP is located in San Cristóbal de las Casas, in the southern Mexican state of Chiapas. Shaped by breathtaking landscapes and flourishing nature, this region is internationally known because of the Zapatistas, an indigenous political movement that inspires the world since 1994. San Cristóbal de las Casas is one of the most ancients colonial cities in America. It is rich in history, architecture, languages and forms of life.
