About

Makers Circle inspires and empowers photographers and makers through retreats, residencies, workshops, and salons. Located in Southern Appalachia, 30 minutes from Asheville NC, artists come here to experience the beauty and power of place while being supported within the context of a small, intimate, thriving rural arts community. Our residencies are open to photographers, and makers at all skill levels looking to incubate, grow or launch a personal body of work or a creative community project. While Makers Circle is open to all visual artists, Makers Circle was founded to address the lack of residency opportunities available to photographers and mixed-media artists who need access to a silver or alt process darkroom and expansive digital studio workspaces.
