Eligibility

Mudhouse brings together diverse cohorts of artists from across disciplines, origins, and career stages. The Full Fellowship Award for 2026 includes accommodations, studio space and two meals each day for the two week duration of the residency at no cost to the artist. The artist is responsible for their own travel to the residency, and for any groceries, art supplies or excursions outside of the village. The Mudhouse Residency sponsors two Full Fellowships for the 2026 season. The Full fellowship is determined by a selection committee based on the merit of the applicant’s work. Artists are welcome to apply to both the Full Fellowship Award and the General Application. The Full Fellowship Award is very competitive, in both 2024 and 2025 it received over 200 applications each year. Artists who apply for the Full Fellowship award will not be automatically considered for the General application.

2026 Summer sessions: JUNE 8 – JUNE 22 | JUNE 29 – JULY 13 Mudhouse will accept 25 artists per session with one Fully Funded Fellowship per session.

The Mudhouse is an artist residency located in the village of Agios Ioannis on the Island of Crete, Greece. The Mudhouse Residency aims to provide artists inspiration derived from an engagement with the stunning natural beauty of its environment, solitude to foster creative growth, an artistic community to enrich professional practices, and an immersive cultural experience within a profoundly rich historical context.
