Program Description

Long Tone: Spring Thesis Studio with David Gersten Dates: February 14 – May 2, 2026 Arts Letters & Numbers presents Long Tone, a twelve-week on-site thesis studio led by David Gersten. Building on the success of its inaugural semester, the program continues Gersten’s long-form pedagogical practice, developed over nearly forty years of teaching internationally. Long Tone approaches education as an art form, transforming the studio into an open site of inquiry where listening, making, perception, and sustained attention shape creative practice. Working across material, spatial, and poetic registers, participants engage in an immersive, cross-disciplinary environment designed for deep focus and long-duration thinking. Now fully situated within Arts Letters & Numbers, the program operates outside conventional academic constraints while maintaining rigor, intensity, and care.
