Program Description

Since 2007 "PILOTENKUECHE" has been an international art program based in Leipzig. The independent project is run by artists to support and empower artists. The international art program selects up to 12 international artists and two local artists, per three months round to collaborate in our 465m² studio and realize two exhibitions during their stay. Located in an inspiring, remodeled factory, our concept aims to create a space that can lead to experimental collaboration and discourse between participants and the larger Leipzig community. Our program is multi-faceted. First, it includes visits to artists' studios, project spaces, and exhibitions in galleries and museums. Second, a pre-residency show or open studio event is held in the middle of the residency to showcase initial work. In addition, regular consultations are held, culminating in a final group exhibition. The project publishes an article about each artist on our website and provides documentation of the work.
